When I decided to create the Thirsty Dog Urban Port Studios here in Ladochori, many people asked me: "Why here?" My answer was always the same — because Ladochori is quite possibly the most practical and authentic area to stay in when visiting Igoumenitsa.
I live and work here every day. I know the neighbourhood, the small secrets of the city, the places that are genuinely worth visiting — and the features that make a traveller's daily life much easier and more comfortable.

At the same time, direct access to the Egnatia Motorway makes day trips to Ioannina, Zagori, Parga or Sivota very straightforward.
One of the biggest advantages of the area is also easy parking — something visitors appreciate greatly, especially during the summer months.

I always recommend guests staying at the Thirsty Dog Urban Port Studios to visit Grill Taverna Tassos, Oinorycheiο and Paradosiako — favourites among locals and visitors alike.
From traditional Greek flavours and grilled meat to mezedes, wine and a relaxed atmosphere, these are choices that reflect the most authentic character of Ladochori and Igoumenitsa.
What I personally love about the area is that everything is close together. You can easily walk, eat by the sea, stroll along the waterfront promenade and return to your room — all without a car.

One of the most beautiful things about the area — and something many visitors don't know about — is the cycling path along Martyron Street.
The route starts essentially from the Ladochori area and continues along the seafront all the way to Drepano. It's a wonderful route for both walking and cycling, especially in the late afternoon just before sunset.
The Municipality of Igoumenitsa also provides municipal bicycles, so you can easily rent a bike and explore the city's coastal path with beautiful sea views.
