Sivota · Plataria · Perdika · Igoumenitsa · the Thesprotia coast
Where the mountains of Epirus meet the Ionian Sea, opposite Corfu, the coast of Thesprotia has what many couples look for and few expect to find on the Greek mainland: green islets in clear water at Sivota, a stone chapel by the sea near Plataria, olive groves and pine-covered headlands, and evenings on a harbour front that still feels local.
This guide is for couples planning a destination wedding in Epirus, with a focus on the coast we know best. It brings together churches and chapels, local wedding professionals, and the travel side that most wedding websites leave out: where your guests stay, how they arrive by ferry or by road, and what they do the day after.

Why the Epirus coast
- A coastline of coves and islets. Sivota, Perdika and Plataria line a stretch of the Ionian with sheltered bays, small islets and beaches for every mood. See our beach guide and the beach map.
- Reachable from abroad. Igoumenitsa is a ferry port with sailings from Italy, Corfu and Paxos, and the nearest airports are Corfu (with a ferry crossing), Ioannina and Aktion near Preveza. See the port guide.
- A wedding that becomes a holiday. Guests can stay on for the beaches, boat trips and tavernas. See where to stay, where to eat and things to do.
- Professionals from across Epirus. The first professionals in this guide work on weddings throughout the region, from Ioannina to the coast. See the wedding professionals.
Four places on the coast
Sivota
A former fishing village set around a harbour and a scatter of green islets. Its best-known picture is Bella Vraka, the beach where you walk through shallow water to an islet. Sivota has apartments, villas and hotels for your guests. Read the Sivota travel guide, where to stay in Sivota and the page on Bella Vraka beach.
Plataria
A seaside village on a sheltered bay between Igoumenitsa and Sivota. Just outside it stands the chapel of Agia Paraskevi, whose icon is carried across the bay by boat every July. Nearby are Plataria beach and Elia beach.
Perdika
A village set back from the sea above a string of beaches, among them Agia Paraskevi beach with its islet. (The beach shares its name with the chapel at Plataria, but they are two different places.) See where to stay in Perdika.
Igoumenitsa
The port town and the practical base: ferries, buses, hotels and car rental in one place. It suits guests arriving from Italy or Corfu, and a first or last night for everyone. See hotels in Igoumenitsa and what to do in town. For a reception by the sea, Barbaroses at Drepano Beach hosts wedding receptions.
A beautiful place is not automatically a place where a wedding can be booked. We add churches and venues to this guide only when we can verify how weddings are arranged there.
Featured chapel: Agia Paraskevi, Plataria

A small stone chapel close to the sea, about 3 km outside Plataria. Our page covers its history, feast day, map, video and what to ask before you plan a ceremony there.
