IgoumenitsaSTAY is an independent local guide to Igoumenitsa, Sivota and Thesprotia. This page explains how places get into the guide, what our labels mean, how lists are ordered and how we earn money. If anything here changes, we update this page.
Handpicked and Verified
- Handpicked means we chose to include the place because we think it is worth your time. It is an editorial choice.
- Verified means we checked the key details of the listing with the business or on the spot, for example by phone, by email or with a visit: contact details, location and what the place offers.
- A place can be Handpicked, Verified or both. Neither label is for sale. A business cannot pay to be handpicked or verified, and cannot pay to keep a label.
What “Details checked on” means
Some listings show a line such as “Details checked on 12 Sep 2026”. It is the last date on which someone from our team confirmed the practical details of that page. The date is never updated automatically: it changes only when a person has checked again.
Opening hours, prices and timetables change, sometimes without notice. If the date is old, or if your plans depend on it, please check with the business or the operator before you go. Timetable pages show their own “Timetable checked on” date, and guides show when they were last reviewed.
How lists are ordered
Today, lists in the guide are ordered editorially: places we have handpicked or verified come first, then the others in alphabetical order. No business pays for its place in a list.
Affiliate links
Some links to booking platforms or to a business may be affiliate links: if you book through them, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. Buttons with an affiliate link carry a small “Partner” label, and an article that contains such links says “Contains affiliate links” at the top. Affiliate links do not decide which places we include or how we order them.
Sponsored articles and hosted visits
When a business has paid for an article, it is labelled “Sponsored” at the top. When a business hosted us free of charge while we researched an article, it is labelled “Hosted visit”. In both cases the article names the business it was written with.
Paid placements in the future
We do not sell placements today. We may offer paid options to businesses in the future, for example a featured position. If we do, every paid placement will be clearly labelled as paid, wherever it appears, and this page will explain how it affects the order of lists. This is also what EU Directive 2019/2161 requires: paid placement in rankings must be disclosed, and the main criteria that decide the order must be explained.
